This 37-Key Gaming Keypad Is Perfect for WoW Classic
We can’t promise that this keypad will help you reach number one in the PVP rankings, but it certainly won’t hurt!
Gamers, writers, programmers, and your average computer user all want completely different characteristics in their keyboards. Writers need solid mechanical key switches with a clean break for fast typing. Programmers appreciate dedicated numerical keys and reprogrammable keys for macros. The average computer user just wants something quiet that keeps their laptop as thin as possible. Gamers require RGB LED backlighting. All joking aside, gamers have the most interesting keyboard requirements, and this 37-key gaming keypad is designed to fit as many of those as possible.
This keypad, called Eyetooth, obviously isn’t a full keyboard. In fact, many of the letters are missing entirely. That’s because it’s not intended to replace your normal keyboard, but rather to act as a supplement for gaming. Anyone who has played an MMORPG like the newly-launched (relaunched?) World of Warcraft Classic knows that quick access to your spells, abilities, and items is imperative for tricky raid bosses and capable PVP opponents. If you assign a healing spell to the 5 key, you better be able to hit that quickly and accurately without looking, or you’re bound to fail in challenging situations.
The Eyetooth gaming keypad replicates the layout of the discontinued Ideazon Fang Gamepad, but adds some much-needed improvements. Those include Cherry MX-style key switches, auto-repeat, and reprogrammable keys. The keys can be redefined from the keypad itself, so you don’t have to use any cumbersome software that could affect your normal keyboard as well. Any key can be programmed to emulate any other key. If you want to build your own, you just need an Arduino Pro Micro, the key switches and key caps, and to 3D-print the enclosure. The key switches are all hand-wired in a standard diode matrix. We can’t promise that it will help you reach number one in the PVP rankings, but it certainly won’t hurt!
