This Is the Most Luxurious In-Couch Beer Bottle Dispenser You Will Ever See

"Sofa, beer me!" Justin White, of the Garage Avenger YouTube channel, installed a voice-controlled fridge in his sofa.

There are few things in this life more heartbreaking than an empty beer, and there is no time when that’s more evident than when you’re sitting comfortably on the couch and your refrigerator is all the way over there. The solution is, of course, to purchase a couch with a built-in refrigerator so that there is no reason to ever get up. Unfortunately, just about every option on the market is absolutely hideous, horrendously overpriced, and requires that you put in effort to lift up an armrest or something. That’s why Justin White, of the Garage Avenger YouTube channel, built his own, and the result is the most luxurious in-couch beer fridge that you will ever see.

In his overview video (above), White does a great job of explaining what exactly this is and how it works. It’s a sectional sofa that has a pair of chaise lounges, and he built a refrigerated beer cooler into the base of one of those. When a button is pressed or a voice command is given, the integrated dispensing system will whirl to life and push a beer into a drawer, which will then slide out and deliver your ice cold crispy boy. After you grab your hoppy brew from the drawer, it will automatically close to ensure that the cooler stays cool. There is even a spring for safety, which keeps the motorized drawer from breaking careless fingers. In addition to the overview video, White also made three other videos that go into more depth. Even if you don’t care about tech details, they are hilarious and are worth watching for the Hot Rod forest dance homage alone.

The couch White used for this project was donated by a friend, but was covered in a slightly outdated white vinyl. A huge part of the work here was simply reupholstering the couch, but the gray fabric looks classy and elegant. The refrigerated cooler, along with the motorized dispensing system, was built completely from scratch. The dispenser motor and linear actuator for the drawer are controlled by an Arduino Uno board. The refrigeration system, including coils and compressor, was salvaged from an old dorm-style mini fridge. A 3D-printed remote control, complete with bottle opener, can be used to trigger the beer dispenser, or the same can be done with an app or voice command. To restock the beer, the entire cushioned portion of the chaise lounge lifts up to provide easy access to the cooler. This project was a huge amount of work that took White months to complete, but we are still thoroughly jealous that he no longer has to get up from the couch to grab a beer.
