Use a PS/2 Mouse to Detect Motion With an Arduino

If you have an Arduino and an old PS/2 mouse lying around, perhaps this experiment by HomeFaciens will be of interest. In the video below, he illustrates how you can hook a mechanical mouse up to an Arduino board using a mechanical mouse’s +5v, ground, clock, and data pins.

This can also be done with an optical mouse by reading data straight off of the processing chip.
