We see a wide variety of Raspberry Pi cases around here in all shapes, styles, sizes, and colors. One of the fun things about the various Raspberry Pi models is how easily they can be fit into different enclosures to fit your needs. If you’re the gamer type, you might even consider using an old game console as your case.
Imgur user InunoTaishou did just that using a broken Playstation 2 Slim, and their post provides detailed photos on how they did it. Most of the original guts of the console were removed, but the buttons and ports were kept, along with the original cooling fan. With all of that removed, there was plenty of room to add the components needed for some Raspberry Pi gaming.
InunoTaishou tried to keep as much of the original functionality intact as possible, and was able make the power button and ports of the Playstation 2 work with the Raspberry Pi. Inside the case is a DC-DC converter to feed power to the system, the Raspberry Pi 3 itself, and the PS2 cooling fan. The USB and Ethernet ports are even connected to the Raspberry Pi.
The coolest feature, however, may just be the Playstation to USB adapter. This allows InunoTaishou to use the Playstation 2 controllers they already had with the Raspberry Pi. With RetroPie installed, those controllers can be used with various emulators for some delicious Pi gaming. Unfortunately, the Raspberry Pi isn’t capable of emulating a Playstation 2, but it can handle other systems, like the NES, SNES, N64, Playstation 1, and many others.
