From our shoes to our fashion accessories, e-ink can turn just about anything into a personalized canvas. Next on that list: your wallet. That’s because one South Korean startup has just launched a Kickstarter campaign for what they’re calling “Wonder Wallet.”
From a customizable exterior to time and location-based smart functions, Wonder Wallet is looking to bring a whole new experience to an everyday product. Through its accompanying app, users can select what’s stored and shown on the wallet’s e-paper display.
When connected to a smartphone, Wonder Wallet can also recognized specific locations and schedules. Meaning, instead of carrying around all those loyalty cards, the futuristic wallet can minimize the clutter by storing your most-used cards’ barcodes or QR codes digitally. Now, as you enter your favorite coffee shop, Wonder Wallet will detect its whereabouts and reveal the specfic loyalty membership upon payment.
Another one of Wonder Wallet’s many interesting features is lost and found alerts. When its Bluetooth connection is activated, users will receive a push notification on their phone if the wallet ever goes out of range.
Technology aside, the wallet itself boasts a pretty sleek and minimalist design with an intuitive sliding mechanism. This enables users to easily slip cards out or put them in particular spots for convenient access to mag-stripes or chips. Prefer cash? Not to worry, Wonder Wallet even has an insertable money clip in its rear compartment.
