Today's computers are faster then 15 years ago and you buy them with much more RAM and resources. How well will a DVC-100 from the XP era behave?
Plug it inWindows needs a driver to work with the USB dongle. Linux will recognize it as a video capture interface and work directly. Open Device Manager and it will show an unknown device.
Corel now owns Pinnacle and they will direct you to a webpage with drivers for many products. I download the 64bit windows driver for a DVC-100. The 32bit driver should work, too.
Double click and accept default values. Device Manager shows Dazzle DVC100 as both a video input device and an audio input device. You can use this to dub audio for recordings.
Dazzle dongles came bundled with Pinnacle Video Editing Suite. But the device works with other softwares. Open VLC video player software. Menu Media->Open Capture Device.
Select Dazzle DVC100 Video. You may have to adjust for NTSC or PAL video standards, yellow composite signal input or S-Video input.
VLC will play the incoming video stream and it can record, as well.
Obs-Studio is a free video capture software available for Windows, Linux and Apple MacIntosh. It works with the Dazzle DVC100 device.
