Most beautiful moments happens during the night times, and I always wished I could capture those special moments with special people as a selfie. So I came up with the idea of making a selfie flash which allows users to use their phone normally even with the external flash attached. So I started working on a low profile selfie flash that uses the phone's battery to power the flash so as to avoid a bulky external battery pack.
How it WorksThe flash works by using power from the phone's micro usb port. The button which is used to trigger the flash is actually a selfie stick push button. The working is very simple.
- The output voltage is dropped by using a 50 0hms resistor, then connected to the flash by means of earphone wires. The power is taken out from the phone using the pin from an otg cable. The push button is placed at the bottom of the phone inside the rubber phone case such a way that it can be easily pressed with little finger while taking a selfie.
- The connections are made according to the given circuit diagram. Here the negative from the otg pin is directly connected to the led, whereas the positive passes through the resistor and then the button, from there to the LED positive. I kept the resistor inside otg casing.
- Stick the LED in in the right position near the front camera with a thin double sided tape.
- Position the button somewhere at the bottom(inside) of the phone case so that you can easily press it with your tiny finger while taking a selfie.
- Pull out the otg pin through the charger hole in the phone case.
- Put the case on the phone and connect the otg pin in your phone's micro USB port.
- Adjust the button so that the LED glows when you press the bottom of the rubber case from outside.
