Third Iteration of the Econocar
After proving the functionality of the software and hardware, I soldered the connections onto a prototyping shield and created a slightly more ergonomic controller. My next iteration will encompass the use of bluetooth via my iPhone to control the vehicle and a mold to cover the exposed components.
Controller
My initial plan was to use a joystick( two potentiometers wired together) to control the vehicle; however, the Citris Invention Lab had already sold all of the units it had. So I stayed with my original design.
Prototyping Shield
The soldering of the shield took me quite some while solely due to my little experience before I started. I'm happy I am actually no longer such a novice at soldering and can now efficiently make nice solders.
Controller Wiring
To make the cable more aesthetic and resilient to ripping off the shield, I zip tied the cables and used CA glue to immobilize two sections with some slack just in case the cables got caught on to something.
