TLDR: This device is a hands free timer designed to kill germs.
The Problem: Bad hand-washingLuciano is a germaphobe. He is paranoid about gross things and noticed that most people had gross hands because they weren't washing them.
How Long People Wash Their Hands (Spoiler: Not long enough)

The CDC recommended 20 seconds is actually a lot longer than most people realize, and this device can help. It is a timer that automatically starts counting once you walk up to the sink. For kids (and easily entertained adults), you get a countdown and a rainbow light-show when you are done.
(Side note: I added the rainbow light-show because I couldn't think of a 6th color, but kids (and easily entertained adults) seem to really like it. I've gotten more compliments on that than any other feature.)
How it works:The device knows when a person is in front of it.* Once your there, the LEDs start flashing different colors:

The colors work like this:
- 0-5 seconds: red (Get your hands lathered up).
- 5-10 seconds: blue (Start washing).
- 10-15 seconds: green (Keep washing).
- 15-20 seconds: white (You are basically there).
- 20-25 seconds: RAINBOW!!! (You did it! Your hands are clean and it's time to rinse)
- 25-30 seconds: the pattern starts over because you must be very serious about hand washing.
*The person needs to be within 120cm (4ft). The device uses ultrasonic sensors. They kind of look like cute eyes.
