Product description
The SIM800L is a micro SIM GSM/GPRS Development Module. It has a TTL serial port which can be used to directly link to the microcontroller without the need of MAX232. The module supports antenna with an IPX connector. It has multiple uses such as make or receive phone calls, send or receive text messages, connect to the internet via GPRS,TCP/IP, etc. It supports quad-band GSM/GPRS network, so it can operate globally. Due to its compact size, it can be directly used on final designs. The onboard LED indicates the connection status of the board. LED flashes quickly if there is no signal and slowly once the signal is established. It can also scan an receive FM radio broadcast. The power module automatically boots and can be connected to any global GSM network with 2G sim.
To top it off, the module supports quad-band GSM/GPRS network, meaning it works pretty much anywhere in the world
First is made of wire (which solders directly to NET pin on PCB) – very useful in narrow places. Second – PCB antenna – with double-sided tape and attached pigtail cable with IPX connector.
This one has better performance and allows to put your module inside a metal case – as long the antenna is outside. Used in gsm based projects, gps based projects, robotics projects or 8051/avr/arm/pic/Arduno/raspberry-pi based projects.
