About this item
- The SDS011 using principle of scattering, can get the particle concentration between 0.3 to 10um in the air.It with digital output and built-in fan is stable and reliable.
- Accurate and Reliable: detection, stable, good consistency;Quick response: response time is less than 10 seconds when the scene changes.
- Easy integration: UART output (or IO output can be customized), fan built-in;High resolution: resolution of 0.3ug/m3.
- Scope of application:PM2.5 Detector;Purifier;Air Exchangers;Filtering system.
- Working principle:Using scattering principle:Light scattering can be induced when particles go through the detecting area; The scattered light is transformed into electrical signals and these signals will be amplified and processed

- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2023I did a sample code to test out the accuracy, and it performed very well. However, now I am trying to implement this into my own air quality control program in my house. I want to trigger my air purifiers at a certain air quality. A little more involved but it will be so worth it when I figure it out! LOL!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2021Works well, zero docs!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2023I think that the DEVMO PM Sensor (SDS011) is similar to the PM sensor in my air filters/cleaners, except the SDS011 has a fan. I wasn't able to find docs, as such, but I used the sensor with an ESP32 with no issues. I used serial comms, and the settings on the product listing page worked as expected. I'm using my sensor to measure particulates in my workshop area. If the concentration gets high, and my dust removal system isn't on, it turns it on (via HomeSeer). The sensor isn't cheap, but the DEVMO seems to be on the lower end of the price scale. Recommended
- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2020It works quite well. But not very accurate(expected at this price point)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sensor - Find Software on GitHub
Very sensitive, 1 second update time. I got a TemTop too, but it wasn't accurate. This is much more reliable and passed a high dust test. It's packaged really well too. Has a quality feel to it, even being an exposed raw component. There's actual PubMed journals on this Nova Sensor SDS011 that show "93% to 97% R2 values" compared to the best particle sensor known to man. For indoor use, outdoor isn't as good. Google the journal article.
There's no software or docs included. But I found "DustSensorViewer" or "DustViewerSharp" on Galch's GitHub for an extremely easy Plug N Play software. Screenshot attached. I installed it. Plugged in the USB, and it was live streaming data immediately.
Really like this tool. Especially because it is so hard to find a cheap but reliable particle counter for both PM2.5 and PM10. I find both values important. Highly recommend so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to implement PM2.5 and PM10 sensor.
The DEVMO PM Sensor SDS011 is a fun to implement PM2.5 and PM10 sensor.
It comes with the SDS011 sensor board and a USB to serial interface board. You can use the USB to serial interface board or just connect it directly to a microcontroller. I chose to connect the sensor to a microcontroller rather than using the USB board.
The SDS011 has a small fan to intake air into the sensor unit. The air is passed between a laser diode and a photo diode which counts the particulate. The sensor returns a digital count of the PM2.5 particulate and the PM10 particulate.
I found some libraries for the SDS011, so it was very easy to get it working. I let it take a baseline for a bit and then put it over a candle. When the candle has visible wax vapor, I saw a big spike in both the PM2.5 and PM10 counts. I included a picture of a plot of the PM2.5 (red) and the PM10 (blue).
I plan on integrating a small display with this and having a portable air quality meter. It is a pretty cool little sensor.

5.0 out of 5 stars worked great for my electronics project
Perfect for an air quality monitor project ive been working on. This was easy to use and had decent code examples
