BME280 Digital 5V Temperature Humidity Sensor

Description

BME280, the precision sensor from Bosch, is soldered onto PCB. Not only the pressure and the temperature, this sensor can measure humidity.

It uses both I2C and SPI (supports 3-, 4-wire SPI) interface

Make sure to put SDO to high to get address 0x77. This will work with Adafruit BME280 library perfectly.

BUYER BEWARE! See the attached picture. The sensor was soldered 180 degrees backwards. It will not work like this. If you buy this board, be sure to check that the sensor is soldered properly.

    This package of 4 sensors was just what I was looking for to add environmental sampling to some of my Raspberry PIs. With a little bit of soldering, some breadboard jumper wires and a bit of Python code I had my PIs delivering periodic environment data to my MQTT server for use by the Homebridge to supply info the Home app on my phone. This all started when we wanted to monitor and control the temperature in the garden potting shed.

    I'm using this sensor to monitor humidity and pressure in a vacuum desiccator. The bme280 is connected to an ESP8266 running a program that populates 24 hour strip-charts (humidity & pressure) in a web page that can be displayed with a web browser (e.g.: Firefox, Chrome, etc) on any computer on the LAN - very convenient in a busy lab!

    If you use the Adafruit_BME280_library, note that its default I2C address is 0x77 and you sill need to initialize the bme interface with "bme.begin(0x76);"

    Works great, exactly as it should. Very reasonable cost. ***If you use the Adafruit_BME280 Library, you must change the I2C address of this device to 0x76 in the library file.*** If you do not, you will get a "sensor not found" error in your serial monitor. For whatever reason, the secondary address designation does not pick this up, it must be 0x76 in the primary address designation.

    These sensors do exactly what they claim to do. The only thing that bothers me is the accuracy of the measurements. Two Identical devices sitting not more than a few inches report humidity differences of as much as 10%, and the barometer readings are .05 In Hg different. Generally the temperature readings are very close.

    These are the real thing. I have been fooled by fake bme280s in the past that didn’t take humidity measurements, but these work perfectly, returning temperature, air pressure, and humidity. The perfect start for a diy weather station.

    Great sensor, but the accuracy floats just a bit.. Probably within +/- 5%, which is tolerance of components.
