Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
It works as stated, though it should be noted that it does _not_ support DS18B20 temperature probes. Checking their website it appears they know that there is no support for the DS18B20 and they have no plans to add it.
OK if you’re looking for growth sensors without soldering then this little hats works perfectly. However I must say that you have to make sure that the sensors you purchase are compatible.
This is easily in the top 5 worst shopping/customer service/return experiences I've ever encountered.
They have this product line "Grove". This would indicate to you that there's pretty good cross-compatibility, right? Wrong! They're so turned around and confused that they have multiple compatibility matrices that conflict with one another. Just go check their website and look at all of their temperature sensor products alone. Go to their Wiki page where they list some compatibility.
Oh this sensor only works with this hat and this board, but not if you have our latest and greatest hat. Oh, it also only works with this language. Trying to work within this ecosystem is like trying to put together a 2,000 piece jigsaw puzzle of a barcode of all 1's.
I've spent hundreds of dollars and dozens of hours looking at this ecosystem and trying to get it to work to no avail. Any reader of this review should take away 2 important things:
1. Do no less than 50 hours of research of YOUR board and the sensors YOU want. I'd bet you won't be able to do it 2. Buy EVERYTHING on Amazon. Seeed's return policy is absolutely ridiculous and inconsistent. 5 days, can't be opened. Well what if a pin was bent in shipping and you didn't notice it? Tough! Oh and you have to pay "any additional fees" on top of return shipping. Vague, right?
Hope this review saves someone else many dollars and much time. I'm going to end up buying raw sensors not tied to this terrible, non-compatible ecosystem.
