The straight cut compound action aviation snip is strong and durable. Its serrated cutting blades cut up to 18GA cold rolled or 23GA stainless steel. With forged chrome molybdenum steel cutting blades, latch design for quick single handed operation, color-coded, bi-material grips for slip resistance, sheet metal snips allow you to cut steel with ease. This product meets or exceeds ANSI standards.

The Stanley FatMax Straight Cut Aviation Snips is the ideal tool for cutting aluminum, vinyl siding, screening, cardboard, leather and copper. The snip's serrated cutting edges prevent materials from slipping during use, and the slip-resistant, bi-material cushion grip ensures a firm, comfortable grip during use. The aviation snip features a double overwind spring for longer life, and a high-leverage, compound cutting design that allows cuts of up to 18-gauge steel. Worked great cutting our metal laft for custom shower and no doubt they’ll come in handy with the wire we cut for farm life. I do see how some people say they are big but it’s ok. They do a great job. Great service and shipping. Thx. Came back three years later and wanted to also so this tool still rocks in all parts of farm life, cutting rabbit wire, chicken wire, even some gardening and craft projects. These pliers/snippers will definitely stay in the top of the tool box!

    The other day I was puttering around and needed a pair of snips - but I was in the back yard and the closest snips were in my roll-around tool box in the basement. I didn't even have a pair in the garage.

    I ordered a Stanley FatMax 9 7/8 inch straight cut pair of snips based on price, reviews, and the name "Stanley". (Not that "Stanley" means "Infallible" but it is a name I recognize and that's a plus to me). Stanley offers a limited Lifetime Warranty on this gadget.

    The Stanley performs as advertised; I tried them out on various bits and pieces when I received them and they are just the thing for my tool tote - the one that has "general" tools in it for fixit jobs and puttering.

    I like the locking mechanism, and it can be unlocked using one hand.

    Speaking of hands, the Stanley has a very nice set of hand grips that should (YMMV) keep your hands fairly comfortable when snipping away on longer jobs.

    EDIT 7/18/16: With additional usage I've found that it's quite possible to pinche one's hand while using the FatMax. An adjustment in one's grip can avoid being pinched, but I felt I should mention the issue.

    Not a tool that I'll use every day, but at least now I'll have a set of snips that are more readily available. Tool boxes are great, but only if you're near them when you need the tool.

    Cutting thin sheet metal of any sort can be quite painful (literally!), but these snips are heavy-duty and comfortable to use, and make the process as straightforward as one could hope for. We've used these to cut up tin cans and G.I. wire mesh, and they've performed admirably well. The handle is non-slippery and long enough that your hands are some distance away from the actual cutting edges (so you aren't constantly at risk of cutting your hands on the trailing edge of the material as you go forward). The jaws are strong, and it's easy to make a neat straight cut.
