Great improvement over standard jumper wires

- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2024I much prefer these style of wires to the classic crimped versions. The rounded pins are easier to insert into the breadboard, and you don't have to worry about pulling them out of the housing accidentally.
That said, there's considerable variation in the length and straightness of the pins on these wires that you'll want to look out for. Some are short enough that they will go all the way into the breadboard, while others will bottom out and leave some of the pin exposed. It's not a huge deal, but it does mean there's a potential to short out there should another wire or component slip into that gap.
Overall, nothing a pair of pliers or edge cutters couldn't fix if it really bothered you. Would certainly buy again.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2023I use these for prototyping on a breadboard - specifically Global Specialties. These seem to work among the best. I like the wire gauge and especially the round molded male connector ends. The ends take up less space when I have a large number of wires. Other square-end connectors work, but are a little awkward when there are many connectors present. The ends slide easily into the breadboard. Some jumpers need to be forced a little, but these do not.
As for the smell, it isn't a big deal to me. I have all my connectors in a box and I don't really notice. I wouldn't have even thought of it if I hadn't read the reviews.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2013Having owned this set of wires for several months now, I can honestly say that these wires have been VERY useful, sturdy, and helpful. Some of the other reviews have mentioned a very strong odor coming from the wires and while mine do still have a scent like gasoline, I have to hold them up to my nose before I can smell it. I don't know if the manufacturing process has changed, the packaging has changed, or if some people just have MUCH more sensitive senses of smell than I do, but the scent has not caused the slightest problem or deterrent for me.
The set is broken into equally-numbered amounts of seven different wire colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, black, and white. Each color group has mostly short wires, a few medium wires, and a couple long wires. In my set there are more red wires than any other color, while there are fewer orange wires than rest and the remaining colors all have nine shorts, three mediums, and one long. There is minor variability in the length of all of the wires, but they are roughly the same length.
Each wire is soft and very flexible except at each end where there are solid rubber grips with a single solid core coming out for plugging into pin sockets. The grips are about 7/16" (1cm) long and about 1/8" (3mm) in diameter while the solid wire ends are about 5/16" (7mm) long. My sole complaint about these wires is the diameter of the grips because the distance between most pin sockets in a standard row is about 1/32" (0.5mm) smaller, so it is difficult to use more than three of these wires in adjacent pin sockets.
Beyond the crowding issue caused by the wire grips the only problem I've experienced is that one wire's grip was somewhat loose on arrival. With 100 wires to choose from, this is a trivial issue at best and the fact that 99% of the wires have no problem at all shows good craftsmanship so far.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2024Initially, when I started doing breadboard projects a couple of months ago, I felt that I would just make my own jumpers as I went along. Turns out that's just a waste of time and using solid wire does not always properly work.
These jumper are easy to use and really speeds up my projects. Especially helpful when using more than one breadboard. Color coding is another plus as you can define sections of the circuit easily.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2024These have been good for my projects, although I should've bought longer ones. They smell really bad at first, a very strong chemical/rubber smell. But the smell goes away pretty fast.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2024I ordered the 100 piece package. What I actually got was:
5 cm (9.84in): 2 black, 2 green, 2 blue, 2 yellow = 8 total (NOT 10)
20 cm (7.87in): 4 black, 2 yellow, 2 white = 8 total (NOT 10)
*15 cm (5.91in):* 4 black, 4 red, 4 blue, 4 white = 16 total (NOT 15)
12 cm (4.72in): 25 black, 13 blue, 12 yellow, 17 white = 67 total (NOT 65)
Grand total: 99 pieces (not actually 100, but close enough, I guess)
Note that the listing also promises 6.29 inch wires (16 cm), but the ones I was provided were actually only 15 cm instead. This makes them actually not that much longer than the shorter ones (12 cm), so they're not quite as useful a variety of sizes as I had hoped. I was also disappointed by the lack of variety in colors (one of the lengths only has three colors, and there were only 4 red wires total out of the whole (99 piece) batch).
(This may seem a little nitpicky, but how hard is it to at least get the basics of what you promised in the description right, or give a decent variety of sizes/colors, if that's specifically what you're advertising?)
On the plus side, all of the wires did appear to be decently constructed and functional (no defects that I can see), the pin connectors are nicer to grip and work with than some others I've used, and I have tested their rated 1A capacity with no issues. In general, they seem like they will get the job done.
There was a fairly strong petroleum smell when I first opened the bag, but it dissipated pretty quickly after they had been allowed to air out for a few minutes, so not really a huge deal (unless you have particular chemical sensitivities), IMHO. You might just want to make sure you're in a well-ventilated area when you first open them...
