I have purchased 10 of the 3 meter cabled sensors and not one has failed. I have installed them in both wet (water tanks, soil, etc.) and dry locations. Accuracy and consistency is pretty good. You do have to be careful not to put to many in a "star" configuration or errors will result due to signal reflections, particularly on the 3m cables. Very please and will purchase more in the future.

It really should come with info on which wire is which. It does not.

But, on the ones I got, red was 3.3v, yellow was data, and black was ground.

Next Thing Chip setup: Connect to GND, 3.3v and LCD-D2. (This requires too fast communications for GPIO.) You need a 4.7k resistor between data and 3.3v.

This works fine with no kernel changes with a modern image from Next Thing. (uname -a should show 4.4.13 or later.)

root@chip:/usr/local/scripts# uname -a
Linux chip 4.4.13-ntc-mlc #1 SMP Tue Dec 6 21:38:00 UTC 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux

You need to load the kernel module with

To read the temperature,

For data: One node is Yellow data cable, Digital Output Pin assigned in arduino, and 4.7k resistor.
The other end of the resistor goes to +5V node.

Regarding product quality: Seems to be well built. Survived water and I work in a testing lab with calibrated equipment. Calibrated hygro thermometer read 23.2 C and the probe read 23.07 so not bad!
