Product Description

This mini-kit makes it easy to mount a PSP/Xbox-like thumb joystick to your project. The thumbstick is an analog joystick - more accurate and sensitive than just 'directional' joysticks - with a 'press in to select' button. Since it's analog, you'll need two analog reading pins on your microcontroller to determine X and Y. Having an extra digital input will let you read the switch.

Amazed me how easy it was to use. Was able to get it working in under an hour or two for my university project, which was to make a simple 2D video game. Would recommend for similar projects.

You will never get a bad part from Adafruit! They are the best!

This joystick worked well, but the dead-zone in the middle was waaaaaaaaay too large for what I was trying to use it for.
I would not recommend this joystick for any project where smooth continuous movement is required across the middle of the thumb-stick. I'd recommend Adafruit's mini analog joystick instead of this for that purpose.

I've ordered a handful of these now and while some work absolutely perfect (been working for year or more, accurate potentiometer readings) I've had two of the five fail in different but show-stopping ways. One quit working altogether within a month and after using a multimeter to test I wasn't able to figure out where the circuit broke and the other one is giving off very jittery x axis readings but perfect y axis readings. In the latter case, I checked the circuits, soldering, etc and found nothing different than the y axis.

Good quality. Wish the output was a little gradual but for the price a great little joystick.

Very disappointing.. Analog output resistance is uneven and non-repeatable. Only really suitable to indicate left/right or up/down but useless for anything needing finer control.

Love it. I needed a simple D Pad solution and the push button was icing on the cake.

At £7.42, this is fantasticand works just as expected with an ATtiny85.
Only using it for full left/right/up/down movements and pressing the switch down. Works fine for that, although I could see detecting fine movements might not be so reliable.
Actually mounting the switch into a box could be a challenge. You need some sort of boot and don't expect a seal around the base, as the button and collar are all hard plastic.

Works as advertized, good value the circuit board is not soldered on so you can directly solder it to your own project board.
