Works nicely. Does have voltage drop is annoying

- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2025I needed it to control a motor through a computer control board and it worked nicely.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2018Needed to use it to drive a stepper motor in both single steps and "continuously." It won't do microsteping (which I don't need) but its enable inputs allow it to be PWM's to reduce the magnetic field's duty cycle, greatly limiting heating and noise from the stepper. It won't automatically shut off current to the motor when you aren't running it but you can do that via software (which is what I do), the heatsink barely gets warm using a NEMA 23 stepper.
Anyway, this is embedded in a water treatment system to microdose my outside water connections (hoses and sprinklers) with polyphosphate to sequester iron. It runs whenever we use outside water and has been a reliable core part of the system for more than nine months now. Would buy it again, it's a great value and its limitations can easily be handled with a little software.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2023I used this product for my raspberry pi so much that it became easy to remember the name "l298N Dual-H Bridge". This works for all sorts of motors, and the step-down voltage makes it convenient to power the raspberry pi with too; by plugging the 5V GPIO pin of the pi with this motor driver, I could power the pi with the same source as the motors! These worked great for my applications, and I continue to use them years after I first bought them. Because of their consistently good performance, I leave this review.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2019I almost gave this 3 stars, but because of its reliability, I decided on 4. The thing works great with raspberry pis. I've used these to control motors and LEDs (they output PWM afterall) and they work great. The build quality is questionable on some of them, so I think QC is a bit lacking, but they all seem to work. The only real complaint I have is with the 5v DC regulator. A common use case for these is to drive motors using micro-controllers (or raspis) and use the 5v output on these to power the micro-controller. That works fine, but the regulator gets very hot when doing that regardless of the current draw. I haven't confirmed this, but my suspicion is that the 5V regulator isn't a switching regulator, and is just burning off the voltage difference between your supply and 5v. This is an odd design choice considering that the whole board itself is a form of switching regulator (PWM). But, as I said, the reliability of these helped me overlook that. I've put these in unconditioned spaces without any overheating issues (they get scorching hot, but keep on ticking). Would recommend for any hobby or small electronic projects (just don't burn yourself if you use the 5v output).
- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2024Very easy to use
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2017These drivers are excellent. I had a problem with some nema 17 stepper motors pulling a tad over 2 amps at times. These drivers are rated for 2 amps and i have over-loaded them briefly (I don;t recommend doing that) and they didn't fry. I had them in a place where the heat sinks were minimally air-cooled, and maybe that helped.
The packaging was okay and the delivery was swift (the next day). I will buy these again, when needed. In fact, I may even buy these particular drivers when i only need one amp. Be advised, when loaded heavy, these heat sinks will get very hot.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2025it gets the job done, but the screw terminal blocks could be much better.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2020So you can get these cheaper elsewhere. I like this circuit design; as there are jumpers for "Full speed" for the motors or if you hook up PWM to the pins you now have variable speed for said motor.
Have not used for driving a stepper; using to drive 2 dc motors. Tons of resources out there for using this module in multiple ways with many different controllers

3.0 out of 5 stars Works well but expensive unit
It works well, but way too expensive for a single unit. I hadn't realised until it was too late to cancel how much more these are than the multi packa elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prodotto cheap ma funzionale
Non offrirà grandi prestazioni, ma mi ha permesso di creare un mezzo robottino tramite arduino di tutto rispetto. Il modello che mi aveva procurato il mio negoziante era saldato malissimo e non funzionava.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastico
Funziona egregiamente, lo uso con arduino per pilotare un motore passo passo riciclato da un vecchio scanner.
Io lo alimento a 12volt e utilizzio i 5 volt forniti per alimentare arduino.
