    My husband and I were not sure what to expect when we ordered this due to the inexpensive cost. We were pleasantly surprised when we received our package. The Dummy Fake Surveillance Security Camera looks and feels realistic and is quite durable. It comes with the receptacle, screws and wall support and was extremely easy to install. It is powered by two AA batteries for the red LED light but we opted not to utilize that feature as we read that real surveillance cameras don't have a blinking light. We felt it may draw attention. I definitely recommend this product if you are looking to deter people from coming onto your property.

      Since I live in a rural area without wifi I was unable to use the "live" cameras [plus the fact that they cost way more than the dummies]. These cameras look very real and, when combined with the added aluminum sign warning of video surveillance, should convince the new neighbors [with four teenaged boys] to think twice about mischief.

      Installation was quick and easy although the threading between the base and the horizontal piece was poorly machined. I installed lithium batteries since I don't want to have to haul out the ladder very often to replace dead ones. A comment I read before ordering these said the red, blinking light didn't look 'real'. Maybe that's true for a professional burglar but for the boys next door they will look real enough and also show up at night.

      This Wali Bullet looks pretty good and displays well. The downside is the ball/screw assembly. It is really cheap. I purchased 2 Wali Bullets. The one had issues with the underneath ball tightening hand screw. Threats were crossed and it would not hold the ball tight making the bullet unable to adjust. It always flopped down. I had to squeeze the ball housing together and re-thread a new tightening screw to make the unit good again. My other Wali bullet was OK, but it is a very cheap assembly. Also, care must be taken when threading the back mounting plate on to the mounting extender rod. Guess time will tell on how long batteries last. Oh by the way, the flashing red light flashes day and night.
      In summary, if you are looking for a good display as a deterrent this item appears to fit that requirement.

      Well who is to say whether or not this 'fake' camera has dissuaded any would be perpetrators or not but it certainly looks real enough. I bought 2 of them and had both mounted within minutes. I sort of like the red flashing light as it brings attention at night to the possibility of surveillance. In fact I showed the 'cameras' to a friend of mine visiting from out of town and he commented that if I hadn't told him they were fake cameras and he were looking for a place to rob . . . he'd move on to another place because they appear to be legit cameras. For me, that was an endorsement.

      Bought two of these. They look sort of realistic and perhaps if mounted high enough might pass for the real thing to a casual observer which of course a professional thief is not. One arrived looking like it had been opened and repackaged, one looked untouched. However, the LED does not work in either one. The post is very difficult to screw into the base and the risk of stripping the cheap metal seems high. The gimbles are very clunky and not at all like real cameras I looked at. The decals say "24 Hour Security Cameras Recording." So, any thief stupid enough to believe the camera was real would be encouraged to break into the house to destroy any evidence. Should say something like Security Camera Monitored 24 Hours or 24 Hour Remotely Monitored Wireless Video. Unfortunately I left installing them until the last minute so will go without. Research since buying them suggests that fake cameras have virtually no deterent effect in a private setting.

      I wasn't expecting much from this. My parents just bought a house right next to a public park, and I wanted these more as a deterrent against mischievous kids rather than determined burglars. Would they work for that purpose? Well, maybe. From a distance of about 25 feet, they are tough to tell from the real thing. But I suspect anyone who robs houses for a living would make them as a fake camera in about 2 seconds.

      === The Good Stuff ===

      * They are sort of believable looking, at least from a distance. I didn't even bother with the batteries, since most cameras don't seem to have the red light anyway. Looking in the front of the camera, you see a group of what could easily be IR-LEDs and a lens.

      * The gimbal mounting also looks real from a distance.

      === The Not-So-Good Stuff ===

      * I ordered two of these, and immediately returned one. It looks like it had been returned. The black paint was scratched, and the mounting rod would not screw into the circular bracket without further stripping out the threads. It is pretty easy to scratch the paint on the metal components.

      * The plastic shroud is removable....a little too removable. It pops off just be handling it, and I suspect any wind would blow the shroud away. I ended up gluing the top piece to the unit, which eliminates the possibility of changing the batteries.

      * The plastic is way to shiny to be real, and I suspect after a few months in the direct sun, it will become brittle and cracked.

      === Summary ===

      I really only wanted this to discourage people that are at a distance from the camera. I doubt it fools anyone who is serious about burglarizing your home, but it may deter more juvenile behavior. The quality of the paint and materials is a dead giveaway, and one of the two units I ordered was already damaged upon arrival. But for $8, even if they only hold up for a year, they are worth it.

      Like many others, I didn't install batteries as I agree that its useless to do so - flashing lights are not realistic and not needed. I did not add more fake wires, as I do not see the point at all for it to serve the purpose. I used acetone to wipe off the writing on the side of the hood, as I prefer an all black look. Once I decide where I will put a 2nd one, I will order another of these.
