This probe matches exactly the one I have that has become inconsistent. The new one read LOW, and when warmed in my hand it read 14 degrees. This was in a 75 degree room in July. Returned.
Thought this was going to work great for our PC thermometer as it fit the plug but temperature reading did not function properly with the non brand replacement. Guess that's what I get trying to save a lil money. Lol.
Haven't had a chance to use these yet, but they seem to work fine with my Maverick ET-7. Both read within a degree of 32F in ice water, and 212F in boiling water.
Edited to add: It's been nine months now, and both probes are still going strong. I use them to monitor both meat temperature and cooker temps. I'm careful to keep water out of the probe when washing, and I try not to use them in temps much over 400 degrees, and they're still holding up.
I bought to use on a MIU France digital thermometer. I assumed a lot of these units are built by the same company and sold under a different brand because they look so similar. I tested it in boiling water and in iced water. The temperature was off by 20F. I don't know if it's because this probe was meant for another branded thermometer or not. It may be perfectly fine. From this experience I wouldn't use on a MIU.
Seems to be a well-made unit, however it does not work as a replacement for my All Clad probe thermometer. The issue is that the temperature reading is well below what it is when plugged into my All Clad unit. I had some chicken in the over for an hour and it was still reading only ~100 degrees F. When I cut into the chicken to check, it was done. But that's not this company/product's fault. That is an All Clad problem, for NOT offering a replacement probe for their thermometer, forcing. customers to make these "trial and error" purchases
So this review is for anyone looking for a replacement probe for their All Clad thermometer. This one- unless my unit was faulty- does not work with All Clad.
The old probe just had to go. More than one cupcake in the oven set off the smoke detector so often the neighbors were pounding on the door. This is a great probe and fits the digital thermometers. Its a no-brainer to me. On the other side, I'm now putting on a few pounds since I don't toss out the cupcakes as often.
