Slim 5V 4A that works with the Atomic Pi

- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2019Steps taken to get it to work with the Atomic Pi with the minimal supplies I had on hand are as follows,
1. cut the cable from an old charger I no longer used
2. strip one side of the cable 3/4 of an inch. strip the other side 1.5 inches. (do this for both positive and negative wires)
3. tin the shorter 3/4 inch side of the cable. fold the 1.5 inch side in half to double the thickness of the cable and tin.
4. the marked area on the power supply in the picture will tell you the polarity of the cables. in this case inside tip is positive and outside is negative.
- insert the 3/4" thinner wire into the Atomic Pi. Positive into pin 3. Negative into pin 4. After tinning you may need to use pliers to press the the wire in order to make it fit into the Atomic Pi header.
- on the folded thicker side of the cable insert the positive wire into the DC plug tip. Negative around the outside of the plug.
I used a twist tie to hold the outside negative wire around the barrel jack. I could try to form it around the barrel with pliers, but this is a temporary solution until I receive female 2.5 mm barrel jacks purchased elsewhere. In retrospect, folding and tinning the negative 1.5mm barrel jack wire may have been unnecessary, wrapping and taping the wire around the barrel jack may have been optimal.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2024After adding a five-pin DIn plug to the end of the cable, this is a perfect replacement supply for Atari 600xl, 800xl, 130xe, 65xe, 800xe, and XEGS computers. There are pre-made replacements from other vendors, but I like to make my own. This one supplies 3amp, which provides a comfortable margin for highly upgraded/modified machines.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2019What can you say?
It's a power supply. It appears to supply enough power for my Jetson Nano.
Unfortunately the mains connector is hard-molded as a US type mains connection. If you want to take it overseas, it **will** work, but you will need an adapter for the type of mains plug you will be using.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2019So it worked, that is as expected. The tubular connector is the large size as indicated, but I knew it was not the one I wanted, so what is an engineer to do? I whacked off the connector and ( a bit of solder and heat shrink later) I spliced in the one from the dead supply I had. It works! TaDa! ... Angels sing! Bright lights from my electronics devices cast LED flicker shadows!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2019WeBoost Cell Signal booster stopped working. Original power supply had stopped working. The replacement unit works perfectly at a much better price than branded one. I wonder how many people return WeBoost or other devices when the power supply dies instead. Thanks for the fair priced power supply that got my booster working again!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2019As the "Frequently Bought Together" section indicates, this is perfect for the Jetson Nano developer kit that just came out.
However, if you're using this power adapter for that, be warned that you also need a jumper on so that the board uses external power rather than micro-USB.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 20215 volts, 4 amps, and the right size plug and polarity for a Jetson Nano 4GB. Now the Nano operates in full power mode.
