    I have two of these running every half hour (clearly overkill for a plant water operation) and they are both working well and giving fairly consistent readings. I can't comment on the long term lifespan of these sensors but if anything changes I'll update.

    Works well. I use the analog output. This is a simple device that uses the TI LM393 dual comparator. The pot sets the digital trip threshold.
    I prefer to use the analog output with an Arduino controller + data logging software to monitor soil moisture. I don't think this device can provide a volumetric indication of water content in the soil. Still, a good soil (or medium) moisture indicator for the price.

    Terminal on the probe broke after a few days. I bought several 5(?) pcs for multiple projects and 2 have already broke. Otherwise, it's good for small proof of concept projects and price is really competitive.

    Price is very reasonable. But build quality is lacking. But, hey...it's cheap. No documentaion.
    Arduino code is available on the web. All text on device except at the connection plug is oriental, assume Chinese. Connections VCC, Gnd, A for analog ouput , D for Hi over set threshold, Lo for Underthreshold.
    Cable supplied is 5 wires, not just two.
