My usage: I have 2 of these working together on an ASUS motherboard being used primarily for 3D modeling, FX, and rendering. I can push out 8K renders with 4K textures with absolute ease. Mind you, all Xeons work only with ECC RAM. A lesson I learnt the hard way.
If you're an IT professional, maybe this review is not for you. But is you are someone who needs ample horsepower (anything outside of gaming) on a budget, then this processor is a strong recommendation.
To the people working on Adobe products (Premiere Pro, After Effects etc.), you will benefit from a processor with a higher single core speed rather than this processor, because that's how all Adobe programs are built and they just refuse to utilize the vast number of threads.

5.0 out of 5 stars solid medium-end Xeon for server work

Almost no point writing a review for an Intel CPU since everyone generally knows what they do. Stuffing two of these into a dual-Xeon mobo (X10DRL-I-O in my case) resulted in an excellent 16-core/32-thread system (8-core/16-thread per socket) which topped out at 200W power consumption at the AC outlet running at full load.

I have two of these things in my workstation and they are monsters. No matter what I throw at this computer, it never slows down. I can run databases, encode HD videos, watch hd videos, do programming, compiling, and debugging all at the same time and it never lags.

8 cores, 16 logical cores, 2.1GHz with turbo... Outstanding server processor for a hypervisor. Most servers need more cores than Mhz. this thing does the job very well, all while just sipping power.

Great little CPU, powerful enough to run virtual workloads while still power efficient.
