Product Description

SunFounder HC-SR04 consists of ultrasonic transmitter, receiver, and control circuit. Mode of Connection: VCC/ trig(T)/ Echo(R)/ GND (VCC supply 5V, and GND is ground wire. TRIG is trigger control signal input, ECHO is echo signal output.)

The HC-SR04 compatible witharduino ultrasonic sensor can send eight 40 kHz and detect whether there is any pulse signal back.

When signal back, a high level signal will be outputed by IO, and the duration of the signal is the time from sending ultrasonic to returning

The distance can be calculated with the following formula: Distance L = 1/2 × T × C

where L is the distance, T is the time between the emission and reception, and C is the sonic speed. (The value is multiplied by 1/2 because T is the time for go-and-return distance.)

I have a working hcsr04 I was testing with that worked fine, and when I swapped each one of these in they didn't work. Put the good one back in and it still worked. A quick look at the back of these is a clue as to why they're garbage. Worst soldering jobs I've ever seen.

    I can confirm that the SunFounder Ultrasound modules work the way they are supposed to with respect to timeout with no echo return. The cheap modules from MiHappy, ZPS, WYPH and others do not work properly as of 10/15/2015. All of these vendors source the same parts and assemblies from the same suppliers. The micro-controller software from these vendors fail to time out properly when an echo is not received resulting in the sensor locking up and having to be power cycled before it will work again.

    The SunFounder products do not exhibit this software flaw. Accuracy is very good (+/- 0.1cm) but will vary depending on the clock resolution and real-time latency of the OS you use. Minimum target distance is 2.0cm from the end of the piezo transducers. Maximum repeatable target distance is 150cm for a large unobstructed stationary target. This range is more than sufficient for most robotics applications. Build quality is very good. All pins are clearly labeled on the board silkscreen.

    These are a great deal at the price if you want a sensor that works properly.

    These SunFounder HC-SR04 ultrasonic modules worked perfectly with my Raspberry Pi 2. After wiring them up correctly, and slightly tweaking the Python code I found online, I was quickly able to test both of these sensors. Both modules worked very well and were quite accurate, considering their low price. If you are looking for ultrasonic distance sensors for your robot or other Arduino or Raspberry Pi projects, these are a cheap, but good way to go.

    I'm using this with a raspberry pi on for a rover and they work excellently. Incredibly easy to program for and accurate as well. They are well made, and don't have the awful solder joints I've seen on other inexpensive products with through the hole components. I would recommend this to anyone doing a raspberry pi or Arduino project requiring range-finding or distance measurement for large enough objects. Plus I love the fact that it gives my rover that quality of having "eyes" to make it a little more animal like. My four year old daughter thinks the thing is like Wall-E, which, of course, makes me super happy. I bought this because 2 were cheaper than one of may of the other equivalent products, and I do not regret it at all.

    These guys are working pretty well. Sometimes their are some connection errors, but it may be human error. I do not have proper connection pins for these guys and can't always tell if they are properly wired. They work well when they work though.

    As for the accuracy, it seems to only be slightly less accurate then the Parallax Ping Ultrasonic Range Sensor. I got both to test them out.

    These are pretty great for the price. Give em a try.

    I use these with my makerfire 2WD robot base. My only suggestion is to implement (in your code) some way to smooth your measurements. I'd say about once or twice every minute it get's a bad reading (either infinite distance or 0cm). But hey, they're cheap and there is bound to be interference and what not if you're using this type of range finding technology. You probably want to use a small weighted average window to figure your actual distance; so you don't make any rash decisions.

    I tried all kinds of things to get this to work with my Raspberry Pi 3B+ but for the life of me I couldn’t get it to get a reading. It might have been something with my code or my wiring though since this was my first time using something like this, but no matter what I tried I never got a distance meter other than 0, and I troubleshooted for at least 2 hours.

    I recommend you purchase a few more than you need. The DoA rate is pretty high, but they are cheap so I just live with it. The standard Arduino library works fine but be ready to write some "sanity checking" code. You will get spurious results (negative distances, huge distances) and those need to be filtered. You will also want to write a rolling-average route because the numbers jump around a lot. It you drop the crazy results and compute the rolling-average of about ten results, the sensor becomes useful and the distance meaningful.

    Cool little sensors, you do need to tweak the libraries to work with the Arduino; Or the ones I fell on were pretty old, but regardless, once I found the fix they worked perfectly; right out of the box with no adjustments it was 1 inch short distance and about 2 inch long on a 10 foot read. I think the imperfections of the readings are due to rounding off in the math found in the library. I might play with the library to see if I can have it send out the fraction of measurements.

    また、こちらの商品は、きちんと、導電ビニルでパッケージされ箱入りです。ちゃんと商品として扱っています。

    Man bekommt, was man zahlt. Trifft hier leider absolut zu! Die Sensoren funktionieren einwandfrei, jedoch lässt die Genauigkeit sehr zu wünschen übrig! Liegt aber sehr wahrscheinlich generell an dem Messverfahren.
