With physician supervision, someone recovering from Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) should strive to stay active with light exercise. Often there is a need to stay within certain target heart rate zones. It would also be useful to record the amount of exercise each day as part of the recovery process.
As someone with CHF, I will utilize a Hexiwear device, along with an iPhone app, to measure heart rate, number of steps and amount of time spent exercising. The goal will be to record the activity in Apple Health automatically, which potentially could be uploaded to an Electronic Medical Record (EHR) in the future.
The first steps (literally) would be to capture measurements with the Hexiwear device and transfer data to an iPhone using Bluetooth. Then I will explore options with an iPhone app that integrates with Apple Health to view the data on the Dashboard. Next steps after that would be to research the ability to integrate the captured data with various EHR systems.
