When hacking stuff on your workbench, your brain spits gold. When creative juices flow, ideas could come up any time. I always have a piece of paper to jot down thoughts I might need later. Evernote helps me organize a lot of my trailer thoughts but some hardware magic could make it more effective.
Creating a smart pen would be a tedious task for a hackster like me, and would add "bulkyness" to the pen damaging my go-to writing experience. So, I am thinking of solving this problem with the help of a naive approach to detecting pen inertial movement with the help of a big clip which snaps on to the edge of the pen. The clipping end also has a GY52 and an sensor which gives me the orientation and position of the pen, helping my Tiva C trace the curves and sending data slowly via my Sparkfun ESP8266 Dev Board to my Evernote account.
This could help bring some "Harry Potter magic" as well, since your wand could be used to introduce gestures to control other IoT projects as well.
Its cost effective, easy to make, connects my work to the internet and makes things easier.
