Tektite is a two part badge. It comprises a web and a detachable spider. Technically, the web is the actual badge and the spider is an addon, but the spider has all of the interesting functionality. The web is larger, holds a battery pack, and eight addon connectors connected via a common bus. The spider is smaller, much more delicate, and too space constrained for a dedicated battery pack.
This is device iacts as a sort of "decoder ring." The Tektite spider uses its eight LED "eyes" to act as an display mechanism. Two input buttons allow the user to clock in data, one bit at a time. Tektite will encode or decode the input value and display the appropriate output.
Full usage instructions, including a video of the codebook in operation are available at https://angstloch.io/tektite/ .
As Tektite is part of a puzzle/game that I'll be releasing this year, I can't make the source code or schematics available at this time. The badge does feature electrolumination, but I'm not showing that at this time, so it shouldn't necessarily be part of the consideration for the contest.
