In this project, we are going to design a bass booster circuit using the 741 IC. This is a general-purpose board that is very important when you want to boost your bass while listening to your sweetest songs. It will go a long way saving you a lot of unexpected costs which comes in when you need to buy an expensive amplifier to boost your bass. You might end up buying an amplifier that might not even solve your needs. This project is a good one for you and your bass-boosting problem will be a forgotten issue.
IC 741 is Our Main Component in the Circuit
This IC is the basic building block for our circuit. The IC uses an exterior feedback mechanism to regulate how they function. The structure is made up of two inputs and two outputs. The inputs and outputs are inverting and noninverting. They serve the main purpose of strengthening the AC and DC signals flowing in the circuit. The other purpose is they are deployed where mathematical operations are needed.
Pin Diagram of IC 741The diagram above shows the pin configuration of the IC 741. Pin 4 and 7 are the power supply pins where pin 7 is the positive power pin while pin 4 is the negative power pin. The IC is supplied with 5 to 18 volts using these two pins. Pin 6 is the output pin the output from this pin is determined by the feedback and the voltage amount at the input pins 4 and 7.
Pin 2 and 3 are the input pins where pin 2 is the noninverting pin while pin 3 is the inverting pin. Pin 1 and 5 form connections for feeding offsetting voltage values which is done through a potentiometer. The pins are referred to as offset null pins. Pin 8 is not connected. This is used to fill up the empty pin in the IC. The pin is not connected both externally or internally.

C1 is used as a decoupling capacitor. This capacitor passes AC signals to the BC 548 transistor Q1 through resistor R3. Resistors R1 and R2 are used as voltage dividers where they bias the current going through transistor Q1. Components Q1, R1, R2, C1, R3, C2, and R4 form part of the preamplifier circuit used to boost up the input signal to level one. The boosted signal will go out of the BC548 transistor Q1 emitter then through C2 which acts as a signal coupling capacitor then to the low pass filter as in the circuit diagram. The signals are mixed at the IC 741 pin 2 and the IC amplifies the bass more before it leaves through output pin 6.
