Have you ever waken up to realize that you didn't wake up to your alarm clock? Perhaps you did wake up, only to fall asleep once more? I have done both on numerous occasions, and want to prevent this in the future. Experience with my parents has shown that simply switching on the lights is a very reliable technique for me. This would obviously benefit from being an IoT device, thus the ESP8266. The only significant constraint is that the light switch must remain unaffected and accessible. Due to the fact that I don't have permission to modify the light switch, I cannot use something more direct like a relay. To use relays on the fixture side would also be clunky,
