WisCore is an open source hardware product which built in Amazon Alexa Voice Service function. WisCore will help you on the application design based on voice, design different product type which supported Alexa Voice Service smart product.
WisCore base MT7628 chipset. It`s used for smart home field or robot product. Also, WisCore use a powerful codec on the board. This chip can implement ASR function, user will ask keyword ‘Alexa’ to trigger the module.
WisCore Mic is an independent Microphone accessory, it`s a Microphone array to support many advance features, such as far field, you can talk with microphone away from 15 feet. Or sound located, using the microphone array will locate the user sound, the direction.
To work as Alexa WisCore requires wisAvs SDK which is pre-installed in WisCore device. But I recommend to update the firmware first otherwise you can face some issues. So, let's update the firmware first.
Step 1: Updating the Firmware1.1 Attach WisCore and wis Audio board to the Motherboard according to the instruction manual.
1.2 Power on, wait some times, then you will see the blue led quick flash. WisCore is started in AP mode (WisCore Board as a router).
1.3 Search wireless SSID “WisCore_mac address”, from your computer and connect it.
1.4 Download latest firmware from the link: https://github.com/RAKWireless/WisCore/blob/master/release/openwrt-ramips-mt7628-mt7628-16M-ASR-Eng-rc-342.bin
1.5 After connecting, put the IP address (http://192.168.230.1) to the browser address bar and press enter.
1.6 Set a alphanumeric password of at least 6 characters and press SUBMIT.
1.7 Re-enter the password and click to SIGN IN.
1.8 You will get following interface.
1.9 Click to UPGRADE FIRMWARE and choose the firmware (*.bin) file you downloaded earlier.
1.10 Then click UPGRADE & RESTART.
1.9 After a few minutes later, the module will restart at "Access Point mode", and you can see the blue led flash 3 - 4 times a minute.
2.1 After restarting follow the steps 1.5 - 1.7 again and click to Network tab and select Station mode.
2.2 Click to Detected Wi-Fi network to find your Wifi router.
2.3 Put the Wifi password and click on CONFIGURE & RESTART.
Allow a couple of minutes for connecting to your network. OK, may be your WisCore is connected to a Wifi network.
Step 3: Sign in with Amazon Alexa3.1 Download and install WisCore app in your mobile phone and launch it. It will scan automatically for WisCore. (Make sure your phone and WisCore are connected to same network).
3.2 If everything okay it will detect you WisCore and you will see following.
3.3 Click on the connected WisCore.
You can see network information by clicking on Network information tab.
You can also get device information.
3.4 Now, click on Amazon Alexa.
3.5 Click on SIGN IN WITH AMAZON.
And click on Continue if you already sign in.
After successfully sign in you will get following interface.
