Rakshith, Alex, and I (Shashi) all work at Intel. As lovely as the campus is, we spend most days indoors in a cubicle farm. We got thinking- why can't be bring the sun indoors? Some of us use F.lux, which adjusts our laptops' backlights to prevent overstimulation at night. So we combined the concepts into EdiSun, a widget that will adjust the lighting in your home from pure daylight to pure dusk, over the course of a day. You can choose to mimic your local conditions or the sunlight in any city. EdiSun can run on any on any device which supports the Julia language, including the very-tiny-but-equally-awesome Intel Edison.
EdiSun doesn't just look up what time it is -- it also accounts for local weather conditions using the OpenWeatherMap API! If it's overcast outside it knows to adjust the color accordingly. If your weather condition is "volcanic ash" don't worry, we have you covered! (Well, as far as interior lighting goes -- you might have other things to deal with).
We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Built for the Hackathon of Things during Thing Week PDX 2015!
