We thought a lot about what a smartwatch can do that a smartphone can't. Eventually we gave up on that (it wasn't a big list) and we thought of situations where you want to leave your phone behind but are okay with wearing a watch. Easy answer: running! Thus the idea of a smartstrap for your watch that has GPS tracking and audio playback capabilities was born. This way runners can go running without their phone, but still listen to music and track their run with GPS.
