What we are considering next:
- A separate 1U rackmount with the PoE modules and improved OLED screens.
- A brand new 2U version to fill the gaps.
- A server rack exclusively made for Raspberry Pis. (perhaps)
When designing our first Rpi rack mount, all we can think about was compatibility. No matter what Pi models you have, we want to make it possible for you to install all of them with one single bracket. As for the second rack mount, we added additional Micro-to-full-size HDMI adapter boards, so you don’t have to buy extra HDMI cables and jacks.
As for the third one, we’ve decided to make it a Pi 4B exclusive, and this time, we are bringing everything to the front.
0.91 Inch OLED MonitorYou don’t have to manually label the Pis any more, there’s a tiny screen displaying the temperature, ip address, CPU and memory usage, it can also be customized to show any information you want.
This isn’t something you can find in a regular or 3D printed rack mount.
All ports at the Front PanelIf you change Micro SD cards a lot, and have suffered from not being able to see the blinking power LED, you will know how important repositioning the slots is. When you ran into hardware issues, these small improvements can save quite some trouble.
Dual HDMI OutputWe've brought out two regular size HDMI ports with a customized type-D-to-type-A connector adapter board, this way you can use normal HDMI cables with any of the Pis, and as usual, they’re bundled with the rackmount.
Power switchesTo make things better each Pi also gets a latching-style push button switch, you only need to plug the cables once, this will come in handy whenever you need to cut off the power or reboot one of the boards, it makes power management a breeze.
