My younger son had just turned nine and I had built my older son a go-kart when he was around that age. We had an old running stroller that was no longer used and a broken plastic IKEA chair, so I decided it was time to make a go-kart for my younger son. When I built my older son's his go-kart, we lived in a small apartment and most of my tools where in storage. To keep the cost down, I used PVC pipe for the frame and used my living room as workshop.
This time around we lived in a house, so I had more space and resources to make the new vehicle out of aluminium, plus I had learned a few things from the first built. The new go-kart is still a work in progress, it has a max speed of 22mph on LiPo batteries. It now has head lights and a brake light. I still have to make an enclosure for the LiPo batteries and maybe a cover to hide all the cables. You can see the built progress on my facebook page at JustBuildIt.
