We intend to reduce the time taken for the 911 responders to reach and act at the site of emergency, especially in times of a pandemic where the emergency responders have to risk their lives in responding to potential emergencies .
The goal is to introduce drones as the first eyes for emergency responders. In times of a pandemic like COVID -19, it would mean putting the lives of officers and medical staff at risk for every emergency situation they have to attend to. Every 911 caller will have a drone dispatched to their current location immediately to allow the responders to assess the situation better. They will be equipped with night vision cameras for incidents at night or first aid kits for medical emergencies.
The drone was assembled, however at maximum thrust output, the drone did not take off.
However, we were sucessfully able to stream content form the NAVQ TO QGC.
Initially we faced a lot of challenges with installing files for MAVLINK and PX4.
We were able to code and run the simulation on jMAVSim.
Much work needs to be done and we hope to continue working on this project for the rest of the year.
