Introduction: PVC Case for TS100 Soldering Iron

I love my TS100 soldering iron. After you press the start button it heats up to your desired temperature in a few short seconds.

However, these irons don't come with an easily usable holder. The box that comes with protects it well, but requires you to disassemble to iron in order to put it away. I made my own out of 3/4 inch PVC pipe that allows you to just slip it in and toss it into your toolbag!

Step 1: Parts Needed

• 3/4 inch PVC pipe (7 inches long or more)

• (2) 3/4 inch end caps

• Packaging material from TS100 iron (Amazon*)

• Spray paint

Step 2: Cut PVC Pipe

Cut the Pipe to 6 1/8 inches

Step 3: Separate and Cut Bottom Packaging Material

Cut into a rectangle roughly as long as the iron's tip and wide enough to cover the inside of your pipe.

Step 4: Insert Packaging Material

Place this material in your pipe and press it to the ID with a rod as shown. Original adhesive will secure it to sides.

Cut small pieces of the same material and secure it to the end caps using cyanoacrylate glue as needed. Double as needed to keep iron secure.

Step 5: Paint

Paint as desired. I used a black enamel spray paint, which turned out quite well.

Step 6: Secure Cap and Mark Side

Secure cap tightly to side of PVC pipe with packaging material on it, then mark the other side with a sticker, paint, or other method so you know which side to open.

Step 7: Insert Iron and Enjoy!

"Toss" your iron in the open side, place the cap on, and you now have an iron that you can transport securely!
