My submission for the "Give your Hardware a Home" challenge.
TinyDuino Wi-Fi Door Sensor.
.........................................................................................................
Doors and frames come in many shapes and sizes. Therefore, I decided to design my door sensor, so that it is easy to mount on all types of doors and frames.
The design is made so that it is kept free from the panels, since they often have very different shapes. Also, to prevent damage to the door frame.
Assembly:
- The back plate with the electronics can be installed with just one screw.
- Wiring can be hidden and guided through the special screw hole.
- The "Bell-Body" should click on with a snap lock.
- The magnet is attached to the door with double-sided tape.
Note:
- The distance to the panel / door can be is adjusted by shortening the connecting rod.
If you install directly onto a door frame with a very curved surface, you can customize the connecting rod end with a grinding tool.
- The magnet is molded into the plastic.
- The pins in the "Bell-housing " will keep the electronics in place, even if a teenager slams the door:-)
The project was designed and rendered in Autodesk Fusion 360. Download and see it in the 3D-player here:
