A few weeks ago, I made the best of my projects, a boxing machine. It was definitely not perfect and needed a few adjustments. The electronics were made on a prototype board and had no housing. The frame was made of steel profiles which were quite heavy. In addition, the OSB housing did not look so good and also added a few kilos. Another drawback was the boxing pear, not sticking rigidly to the tube. The mechanism that stops the pear in a horizontal position was also to be improved. The method of measuring the force will remain the same, i.e. it will be based on a reed switch and two magnets.
In the above video, you can check what the new version of the boxer looks like. It is not ready yet, I will keep you posted on the progress.
Step 1: DesigningIn this video, you can see how I designed the second version of the boxer.
Step 2: FrameI created a frame made of v-slot aluminum profiles, which I connected and stabilized using connectors and screws with nuts. I came to the conclusion that the OSB board is a good solution for the housing, I only changed its thickness and put a veneer on it. After folding the whole thing is such a compact structure. The pear can reposition 90 degrees thanks to the piece of profile and the hinge.
Step 3: ElectronicsThe first task is to connect all the elements together to create a layout diagram. For this, I will use the Eagle program. I create a new project and add all the components to it, combine them and group them together to improve the readability of the diagram. Then I move on to PCB design. The number of elements on it is small, so it will be a simple task. I organize the elements, create paths using the autorouter and define the shape of the PCB. I add mounting holes and export Gerber files, which I then upload to the PCBWay website and order my PCB, which after a short time is built and shipped to me.
Step 4: First VersionTo sum up, I am satisfied with the effects of my device. It is an interesting option for family meetings or competition among friends. Of course, it requires many improvements, such as improving the design or adding sound signals and various game modes.
