Good evening fellow HoverGames admins and participants. I am very enthusiastic about the competition and all the great technology we have had access to.
I exchanged some emails with Ian Galloway, one of the admins and felt this was the best way to log my entry into the contest.
My project involved more than one drone, a swarm of drones. I was very excited to participate and even purchased a second drone kit and second NavQ computer myself.
I then came down with Covid-19. What a bad virus. I spent months in the hospital as it had damaged my lungs and left me with other problems. The vaccine is very hard to get here in Georgia still. I was just released from the hospital, so I have a long road of recovery ahead of me.
I am so sorry as I wanted so much to finish, I wasn’t able to do as much with the competition being in the Hospital. I was in a medical comma for a month due to, too much fluid buildup in my lungs. I am now left with damaged lungs that don’t work as well as others. Stairs, long walks, etc. are hard for me. It should get better over time the Doctors say but only time will tell.
That being, I am still wanting to finish the competition over the year of recovery even if it is just for the fact, I committed to this.
I do not want to be penalized from future competitions for not finishing this one as Covid-19 is completely out of my hands. I don’t know how I picked it up as I was following all the safety protocols and such.
I am setting up a website at bnpaerospace.com to continue to blog my work on the HoverGames since the submission site will be closed.
I am very sorry I wasn’t able to complete but I am willing to continue to work towards competition and blog my work.
Now that I am on the mend, I fully look forward to future competitions again. I appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Sincerely,
Brian Popkin
