This project is a small box that intends to use the Adafruit Circuit Playground Express to send a message about the final consequences of smoking. When the user first sees the box, they will see a single question: What does smoking do? There are several answers for this, but there is one that stands out among them, the final consequence. When the user opens the box, they will be presented with a glaring red glow, and an image of the Grim Reaper declaring: "It calls me!" The sum of it all is that one must not smoke, or else they put themselves in life threatening risk, and eventually death, or simply put: Smoking is deadly. Using code that was assembled in Microsoft MakeCode, the Anti-Smoking Box has two triggers which reveal two different reactions. The first reaction is triggered when the user shakes the Anti-Smoking Box. On this cue, the Circuit Playground Express within the Anti-Smoking Box will play a quick, 6-note jingle, at a tempo of 120 beats per minute, while also emitting a combination of purple and blue lights, which change color at random speeds. The second reaction is triggered when the user opens the Anti-Smoking Box. On this cue, the Circuit Playground Express will play a simple "wawawaa" noise while emitting a full ring of red lights. Both of these cues also have a secondary trigger: when the Anti-Smoking Box is placed upright, at which point the Circuit Playground Express will be face down. On this cue, any and all sounds still emanating from the Circuit Playground Express will be immediately stopped, which means the user can turn off the lights and sounds at any time they wish.
The Anti-Smoking Box is assembled using the Circuit Playground Express, a USB cable and a Lithium Ion Battery to supply power, as well as two paper bowls to provide the frame of the project and black paper and white paper to emphasize the interior and exterior respectively. All held together with electrical, blue, and clear tape, and topped off with words and an image that I put together with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. With the USB cable, the Anti-Smoking Box can be plugged into a USB port, which can supply power to the device as an alternative to the Lithium Ion Battery.
