In my tool collection I currently have over 10 Craftsman Versastack tool boxes. These tool boxes are awesome because they all snap together and make it super easy to transport to different job sites.
The beauty of this system is that Dewalt drill bit cases also snap into place among the tool boxes as seen above. You can also but the medium case (the box all the way on the left) empty on amazon for about $7. This opens up a world of storage possibilities.
This image is of the empty cases stacked on top of a Craftsman Versastack tool box.
I purchased a set of round gauges, a feeler gauge and a digital angle finder on Amazon. These came in a box that already breaking when I opened it for the first time. I thought of this as the perfect time to integrate the Dewalt Versastack system.
I first laid out the components in the orientation I wanted inside the box. This allowed me to take measurements and begin to draw up an idea for an insert.
I took to the computer and hopped on Creo Parametric. The image above is the final CAD model and includes a spot for everything that was in the first photo. I also included easy thumb tabs and spots for press fit magnets to be placed to keep the gauges in place.
The image above shows the 3d printed insert press fit into the box with all the components in place.
The image above shows how the medium boxes can be stacked together.
