Build next generation devices for our future smart cities. From better-designed traffic lights, to connected homes, urban farms and citizen information services, what will you build?
We are asking you to design a system that could be implemented in homes or cities to make them smarter, better and more modern. Get started by submitting your idea to the Pre-Contest, if you win you (and 99 others) will receive a free Arduino-compatible Linkit ONE and a $25 gift certificate to Seeed Studio!
For the second part of the contest, make your idea a reality and publish detailed instructions to Hackster. The first place winner will receive an iPad Pro 32gb. Second place receives an iPad mini 4 16GB. Third place receives a new Apple TV. All three finalists receive Seeed Studio service credit for Free PCB layout & DFM review ($1,000 value).

Get started:
First of all, create a free account on Hackster.io (if you are not already a member) and register for the contest by clicking "Register as a participant". Also, visit LinkIt ONE Quick start guide and realtime bike tracker project to help you get started.
Pre-Contest: Submit your project idea by September 30, 2015 11:59PM PT.
- Click "Submit an idea for the pre-contest" and fill in the form.
- Describe your idea for a device that would change the way we live in cities. Be sure to include plenty of details about what problems the device would solve, as well as technical details about how it would work and what sensors and components it would use. This is just an idea, so it doesn't have to be fully fleshed out.
Judging for the Pre-Contest:
- 100 pre-contest winners will be selected from the ideas that have been submitted by September 30th and will receive a free MediaTek LinkIt ONE ($59 value) as well as a $25 coupon to buy sensors on Seeed Studio.
- Pre-contest winners will be notified no later than October 2, 2015 and will receive their LinkIt ONE by October 30, 2015
Contest: Submit your project by November 30, 2015 11:59PM PT.
- Build your idea as a final product. Flesh out the project details on Hackster by adding images of your finished project as well as complete instructions, schematics, and code.

FAQ:
Do I need to participate in the pre-contest to be able to participate in the contest?
No, anyone can participate in the contest regardless of whether they participated in or won the pre-contest. The pre-contest and contest are separate.
