One of the main reason the novel corona virus has spread so quickly is its two week period where the victim doesn't show any symptoms. Without even knowing, the victim could infect thousands; to prevent this from happening governments across the world have declared quarantines, but how long can we stay quarantined? As the Indian government eases quarantine rules it is our responsibility to maintain social distance and not revert back into a state of quarantine. On an average day you encounter countless strangers, even if you modify you lifestyle, due to interdependence you still will have to encounter a handful of strangers. Due to this reason fear arises, you know nothing about the other person but you have to risk and believe that they have been safe at every point. This is the Risk Of Interdependence.
My application, Corona card aims to hedge this risk of interdependence by making strangers not so strange. Corona card creates a crowd sourced network that allows users to know whether it is safe to meet a person just by sharing their history of exposure to high risk zones.
This is possible through the use of Geo-fences and location monitoring. The red zones or high risk areas ( obtained through government or health authorities) are converted into Geo-fences which allow the app to notify the user when entering one and store their total time spent in red zones over a period of time. This information is reflected in their Corona Card which then can be shared with others. Therefore enabling users to asses the COVID-19 risk before meeting the other person.
The Corona Card also has other useful information such as their occupation and demographic information.
Moreover, this app in real-time alerts the user when near or entering a red zone without compromising on user privacy as their location is never stored.
