Got some spare bottles around? Have access to a 3D printer? Rule of threes so I should have come up with another rhetorical question? Great! You should take some time to make some DIY LED Corks.
I recently moved to New York and trying to decorate my apartment by upcycling things that I would otherwise throw away or recycle. I saw some Cork Wine Bottle Lights on Amazon and realized I had all the pieces in my apartment to create my own DIY version of LED Cork lights.
First, go ahead and print out the different 3D printed parts. There are only three pieces and It should take 30 minutes - an hour to print out all of them for the enclosure. You can find the hosted Enclosure files on Thingiverse.
Take the LR44 Battery Holder piece and run thick gauge wire (I used Solid 18 AWG) through the loops on either side. And afterward, cut the remainder of the wire off to minimize the size of the overall part.
Solder a 47 Ohm resistor to the anode end of the Copper LED Strings and solder the cathode end to one of the terminals of the Battery Holder. Afterward, solder the other end of the Battery Holder to the middle pin of the Slide Switch and the 47 Ohm resistor to the far pin. Then place the batteries inside and test. If the lights don't turn on switch the orientation of the batteries.
Place the Top Piece of the Cork on the Slide Switch. Then run the Copper LED Strings through the Bottom of the Cork and close up the cork. Place the copper strings in a bottle and that's it! Enjoy your new art piece 🍾
