My wife is diabetic, and recently had a Dexcom G6 fitted. A great device, however, she was sick of having to constantly unlock her phone to view her glucose levels.
Made her this little screen so she could have them easily accessible on her desk without needing to keep checking her phone.
Hardware SetupSimply flash the Wemos D1 Mini with ESPHome, add the font file to your ESPHome Configuration folder in the fonts directorys, and use the provided yaml file as the configuration.
Connect:
- GND pin on the display to the GND pin on the Wemos
- VDD or VCC pin on the display to the 3V pin on the Wemos
- Connect to SDA and SCL pins to the Wemos, taking note of which pins they've been connected to. You can then set these in the yaml file. Mine were connected to GPIO23 and GPIO19
My wife uses Dexcom, so we've added the Dexcom integration to Home Assistant. This then created 2 sensors which were called sensor.dexcom_glucose_value and sensor.dexcom_glucose_trend. Change these in the yaml file to match your sensors
Plug in the device, and away you go!
