Arduino has just launched the Arduino MKR WAN 1310 Development board. This board offers LoRa connectivity, more Flash memory and it is a low powered device. Arduino has added a new board to their MKR family. These features of the board make a great enhancement for the IoT makers. So, let's have a brief overview of the board. This is the latest development board of Arduino Family launched in October 2019.
The new Atmel SAM D21 Cortex-M0+ 32bit low power ARM Microcontroller. It is running at up to 48MHz, contains 256 KB internal Flash memory and 32KB SRAM. The clock frequency of RTC is 32kHz. But it has no EEPROM in it.
It has specifically designed low-powered architecture for improving the battery life of battery-powered devices. It has improved the control of power consumption of the board. When the user configures properly, it can go for low power consumption up to 104uA low.
It has the Murata CMWX1ZZABZ Radio module for the LoRa Connectivity. This device also has a built-in ATECC508 crypto chip. This crypto chip also adds further security by storing credentials & certificates in the embedded secure element.
This device has 2MByte external SPI Flash memory. This memory is helpful for the Over The Air (OTA) updates and data logging. This will also allow the user to store the data locally and send it to the cloud at network availability.
This development board also has the basic features like it has 15 GPIO pins, 7 Analog input pins, 1 UART, 1 SPI, 1 I2C, 1 Analog output pin. This board has total 12 PWM pins. Built-in LED is connected to pin number 6. It has a Micro-USB port for the power and data connectivity support.
These all the features make the perfect IoT node. It also helps to build blocks for low-power wide-area IoT devices.
