Make your factory smarter with our IoT kit. With this project, you will be able to monitor the climate in your factory the kit contains sensors like temperature, humidity, CO2, light. It can be upgraded with a VOC tag or some other sensors. We will be using some 3D printer as a showcase of our industrial machine, but it can be used on the classic factory machine as well.
It is non-invasive so you can deploy it almost anywhere in a short amount of time.
Visit other industrial projects with HARDWARIO IoT Kit on the projects page.
1. Build hardwareYou will need the CO2 Monitor Kit you can also buy some additional tags, but if you want to use some other tags you will have to use another firmware, not the one that will be shown later.
You can watch the video below on how to build the kit.
2. Flash firmware- Download HARDWARIO Playground,
- If you bought the CO2 Monitor Kit it will be delivered flashed with the firmware already on it, you will just have to pair it.
- Otherwise, flash firmware to the Core Module that was made for this project. You will find in the Playground by name: bcf-radio-co2-monitor
- How to flash firmware is shown in the documentation.
You need to pair the Core module with the Radio dongle that you are using, follow the instructions below to see how it is done.
- Connect your USB Radio Dongle to your computer.
- Open HARDWARIO Playground
- Click Start Pairing the LED on the dongle should start blinking
- Connect the device that you want to pair into your computer or insert the batteries.
- Wait for the device to appear in the table
- It should add the device with the Alias: co2-monitor:0
After you did all this you can unplug the device from the computer and plug in the USB to the socket. The next steps will be done on the computer, so you can leave the device and focus on the NODE-Red.
4. Import flowOpen Node-RED in the Playground or Raspberry Pi and import this flow from the Attachments in the Menu -> Import -> Clipboard.
Do not forget to hit "Deploy" in the top right corner to apply the changes.
This flow collects all the data from the CO2 Monitor and sends them to the dashboard gauges.
5. Test your devicePlace the device to someplace near your machine where it is not affected too much by it, the temperature can be a problem. Plug it in and watch the result in the HARDWARIO Playground Dashboard. You can see an example of the output down bellow.
Make a safe and good environment for your employees where they can be most productive. It is crucial for your business that they are happy and in a healthy workplace.
It can be hard in factories and places like that, but it is easy with this project so try it out and you will see if it is suited for you and your building.
It is all low power so it can run on batteries for like 2 years.
You can make some adjustments to the code so it suits your needs and your machine needs.
