Thank you, Nick and Aloyz, for inspiring me to tackle this project.
Basically, I followed the tutorials on both their pages for building a Tamaguino, using an Arduino Uno. Actually I have an Arduino starter kit and a Sparkfun inventor's kit. The reason I mention the latter is, the jumper wires from the latter or often easier for me to use than the ones from the former. Also, the buzzer from the Arduino starter kit broke so I ended up using another buzzer from my junk drawer. Sometimes, you just need to use what is available.
As of Monday, July 10, 2017, here is video showing me with an improved Tamaguino. This one includes three 220 Ohm resistors. The added components make a big difference. When I press each button, the Tamaguino responds accordingly. Before, i got similar responses by jiggling the wires attached to the buttons. At least now I know what works.
