Bathroom Ventilator

I could not fit any off-the-shelf air-extraction ventilator with humidity sensors in our bathroom, so I decided to build my own and add a little IoT flavour to it.

Using a Particle Photon, a DHT-22 humidity and temperature sensor, Particle's relay shield and an off-the-shelf tube ventilator, I created my own IoT bathroom ventilator.

You also need an AC/DC adaptor to power the Photon and the relay shield. I used a Meanwell SPS module IRM 10 series directly attached to the shield. In this way, I can power the Photon (via the relay shield) and the tube ventilator from a single wall outlet.

The Photon measures humidity and temperature and switches the ventilator on and off depending on the humidity. The internet connectivity means I will now be able to log the values and fine-tune the behavior of the ventilator further on historical values (or at least, this is the plan :).

All electronics are enclosed in a box and wiring to the ventilator and the sensor runs through the shaft in which the ventilator is installed.
