To fit in everyone way of living, the device has to be as adaptable as possible. Do people need regular refill on juice? Milk? Bathroom soap? Or maybe they just want to remember to put the trash outside on Thursday? Do they have their kitchen product on a big shelf, small shelf or just on the ground? Or maybe they’re gonna need more juices than usual next week-end for their sons' birthday…
This device is a link between a carpet, a jigsaw puzzle and… the IOT world! It’s fully adaptable in dimensions, it can calculate almost any products size or weight and it’s fully waterproof! In addition, it can be set anywhere inside or outside your apartment as long as it can reach the Wifi. The only place you can’t actually use it is your fridge, because the metal structure will stop the wifi waves…
How does it work :
The device is divided into several “plug and play” puzzle pieces. We can identify 4 different types :
The “Normal pieces“ detect the presence or the weight of an object above them. There are two kinds of weight detection pieces :
- Digital one needs around 50 grams to be activated, this is useful to calculate the number of juice bottles, laundry bottles, or anything used in the reserve.
- Analog one calculate the weight left of a product between 100 grams and 10 kilograms
All the front pieces are called the ‘control pieces”. They identify a line of product plugged behind them and they have their own button to manage exception stock. If you need more beer than the usual preconfigured amount? Just press the button!
The last piece is “brain piece”. It has to be plugged on the right of the “control pieces” line. Its action is to centralize all the data from the other clusters, process them, and if a missing product trigger is activated, it connects throw the local house Wifi and send a simple SNS throw the DRS with the client informations.
To do this, the “master piece” has an IO extension, a microcontroler, a Wifi Chip and a rechargeable battery (with standard mini USB plug). As nobody likes to recharge their devices too frequently, the system is very low consuming, so the battery can last for months!
To build your system for your shelf, just create a line of “control pieces” and plug the master piece on the right. Then you can add as much “normal pieces” as you want behind the "control pieces" line. Finally you just have to set your configuration in the microcontroler program, and that’s it!
